My time @ UC Berkeley
Failure as Opportunity
In pole vault you fail, a lot. In fact, you never really succeed because at the end of the competition, you still hit that final bar down. Coming to terms with failure in all aspects of my life was not easy, but has changed my perspective: Glass half full
Rich Berkeley Network
Surrounded by some of the brightest minds and thinkers, being curious is inevitable. Through my contacts from work, career fairs, speaker series, club meetings, guest speakers and alumni platforms I have ben fortunate to visit companies like Google, Square, Gallo Winery and many more.
Taking Action with Change.org
As a scooter owner I, experienced a problem: most days near campus, finding legal parking was almost impossible. Berkeley Police ticketed and towed all scooters/motorcycles parked outside of the parking zones. The truth was: there simply wasn’t enough parking. Solution: I took action to create a petition for more parking around campus. With over 200+ signatures we persuaded Berkeley City Council to provide a supply for the high demand.
Cal Track & Field Pole Vaulter
Athletics have been in my blood since the moment I could kick a soccer ball. I tried every sport in the book until eventually I chose competitive club soccer as my main endeavor. After blowing out my knee Junior year of high school my scholarship offers vanished and my hopes of playing at the competitive D1 level were destroyed. My thought process:
‘Every girl in the US plays soccer, scholarships are incredibly hard to come by, if I can’t play soccer I will just have to pick another sport to pursue.’
next,
‘What sport is there only a handful of girls doing, yet there are scholarships out there?”
Answer: Pole Vault.
That year (2016) I dove head first into the very tight-knit pole vault community. After joining two club teams, watching every you tube video possible, attending camps, and befriending multiple pole vault olympians I had built the network that helped me to where I am now.

Project Manager ASUC Senate
After a bad accident leaving me out of Track & Field for the season I was given the opportunity to help make an impact on our campus through joining the student government. Our senate group’s mission :
Tackle issues surrounding mental health
The solution: bring a smile to as many people’s faces in the most efficient and cost effective way. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL Stickers
Coming from Chicago I had done a similar project with the Chicago-based YAB Non Profit in high school. After an absorbent number of bullying reports, our club hung a massive installation in the hallway of Loyola Academy. The sign was so effective at elevating student morale, that I had to bring the same effect to the UC Berkeley Campus. Our senate group flooded the entire campus with love by “nicely vandalizing” mirrors all over campus.
Nutritional Science &Economics Tutor
As an athlete nutrition has become an inevitable hobby of mine. Getting to dive deeper into the subject here at UC Berkeley I absolutely fell in love. Likewise with Economics. There is some sort of peace in understanding supply and demand forces and their effects.
In high school at Loyola Academy, “service” was drilled into us and at times even required. Coming to college I felt a void, a missing puzzle piece. That piece was service. My form of giving back was to help students and friends with subjects I personally enjoyed and felt passionate about. Tutoring has been one of the most rewarding “jobs” I have had and has taught me that people all cultivate knowledge in unique ways.
Berkeley Food Collective Volunteer
The Berkeley Student Food Collective is on a mission to aid students and patrons experiencing food insecurity all while combating food waste. This lovely little store sparked my interest in the food space as I spent each shift inspecting each and every product. I collaborated with other members to ideate creative ways to engage with our customers and create a better shopping experience. The sense of fulfillment I felt from each shift was unlike any other position.

VP Social Media Student-Athlete Business Network
One night on my way to study I accidentally walked into the wrong conference room where the SABN Vice Presidents were having a meeting. As a member of SABN I was curious as to what the meeting was about, so I asked, and they replied:
No one was showing up to weekly meetings
I offered up what I saw the solution to be:
Social Media Awareness
On the spot they offered me the position as the Vice President of Social media with the task of getting more student-athletes to meetings. And we did, SABN members were informed via instagram on bi-weekly meetings and guest speakers. Engaging content and follower interaction was all they needed. IG: @cal_sabn
